Types of Orthodontic Treatments: Which One Is Right for You?

Orthodontics

A confident smile can open doors—and orthodontic treatment is often the first step toward that smile. Here at Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics, we see the beauty in every patient’s unique grin. That’s why we provide a full range of orthodontic options to straighten teeth, fix bite problems, and enhance both your appearance and your oral health.

Whether you’re looking for affordable braces in Chandler or a nearly invisible solution like Invisalign, this guide will walk you through your choices, so you can choose the care that fits you best.

Why Orthodontic Treatments Matter

Orthodontic care is about more than looking good—though a straighter smile is certainly a perk. Well-aligned teeth are simpler to clean, lowering your chances of cavities and gum disease. Fixing bite irregularities can ease jaw pain, minimize uneven wear on teeth, and even support clearer speech.

Thanks to advances in modern orthodontics, you have more treatment options than ever. The best choice for you will depend on your age, dental health, daily routine, and budget.

Common Orthodontic Treatment Options

  1. Traditional Metal Braces

Conventional metal braces continue to be one of the most reliable and budget-friendly solutions in Chandler. They feature small metal brackets attached to the teeth and connected by wires, which are gradually tightened to move the teeth into the desired alignment.

Pros:

  • Exceptionally effective for pronounced misalignment
  • Affordable
  • Safe and suitable for patients of any age

Cons:

  • Clearly visible on the teeth
  • May lead to initial soreness and certain food restrictions
  1. Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces operate on the same principle as metal braces but substitute the brackets with clear or tooth-colored ceramic ones, making them less visible to most observers.

Pros:

  • Discreet, blending in with the natural tooth color
  • Capable of correcting both moderate and pronounced misalignment

Cons:

  • Generally priced higher than traditional metal braces
  • Ceramic brackets are sensitive to staining unless consistently maintained
  1. Lingual Braces

These brackets sit on the inside surfaces of the teeth, making them nearly undetectable when smiling.

Pros:

  • Completely hidden from view
  • Individually crafted for optimal fit

Cons:

  • Tougher to keep clean
  • Might cause temporary speech changes
  • Generally, more expensive and needs more visits to fine-tune
  1. Invisalign Clear Aligners

Your Invisalign provider in Chandler gives you a sequence of clear trays that you switch out every few weeks to gradually shift your teeth.

Pros:

  • Almost undetectable
  • Easily pops out for meals and brushing
  • Smooth plastic feels gentle on gums and cheeks

Cons:

  • Not the best choice for severe crowding or bite issues
  • Demands a consistent 20–22 hours of daily wear
  • Tends to be pricier than standard metal braces
  1. Self-Ligating Braces

These braces feature a gentle clip mechanism in place of traditional elastic bands, allowing the archwire to move teeth into alignment with less friction and greater precision.

Pros:

  • Occasionally, shorter treatment times
  • Simpler to keep clean
  • Requires fewer checkup appointments

Cons:

Not the right fit for every alignment issue

Price may be higher than standard braces

Choosing the Right Treatment for You

Selecting the most effective orthodontic approach hinges on your unique situation. Teens often appreciate the low-profile look of Invisalign, adults may opt for ceramic or lingual braces, and younger patients with more complex alignment challenges usually benefit from the proven control of traditional braces.

At Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics, our mission is to match you with a plan that meets your dental goals, lifestyle, and budget. Our friendly team will support you with personalized advice and skillful care at every visit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What are the most affordable orthodontic options available in Chandler?

A: Traditional metal braces are typically the most budget-friendly option. At Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics, we offer flexible financing plans and accept most insurance policies to help make affordable braces in Chandler accessible for everyone.

Q: How does Invisalign work, and is it suitable for all ages?

A: Invisalign uses a series of custom-made, clear aligners to gradually shift teeth. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before moving to the next set. It’s a great option for teens and adults with mild to moderate alignment issues. As an experienced Invisalign provider in Chandler, we’ll evaluate your needs to see if you’re a good candidate.

A: Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation, where we take digital impressions and discuss your treatment options. Once a plan is in place, we’ll guide you through each phase—from fittings to follow-ups—with friendly, personalized care.

From the moment that you walk into this office you know that you're in a place of professionalism and that you'll be in good hands. We were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist, an excellent Dental Hygienist and Dr. Aaron Johnson making up the dental team that saw both my husband and myself. All three of these people were so pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. Even though we obviously were there for dental reasons, it felt as if we're back visiting old friends that we hadn't seen for a long time! If you're looking for a dental practice, look no further, because Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics is the place for you!

I had a great experience at Progressive Dentistry. I have neglected caring for my gums in the past so I had pretty severe periodontal disease. From the moment I walked in to when I left everything was clearly explained and laid out for me, pricing was discussed beforehand and I was aware of every step. The staff and doctor were very friendly and informative. They spent ALOT of time during my deep clean making sure every bit was out and even following up with xrays more than once to verify. I am so grateful for my healthy new mouth and I will be going back to Progressive for all future dental care.
