Dental Crowns and Bridges in Chandler, AZ

A damaged or missing tooth can affect your ability to chew comfortably, speak clearly, and feel confident about your smile. Dental crowns and bridges offer restorative solutions that help repair damaged teeth and replace missing ones. At Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics, we provide personalized dental care to help patients improve tooth function, protect their remaining natural teeth, and restore their smiles.

If you need dental crowns and bridges in Chandler, our team will evaluate your oral health, discuss your concerns, and explain suitable treatment options. Whether you need a crown to reinforce a weakened tooth or a bridge to fill a gap, we focus on creating a treatment plan that supports your dental needs and everyday comfort.

Restore Your Smile With Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are commonly used in restorative dentistry to address different dental concerns. Although both treatments can improve tooth function and appearance, they serve distinct purposes.

A dental crown is a custom-made covering that fits over an existing tooth to restore its shape, strength, and appearance. A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by using supporting natural teeth or dental implants to hold replacement teeth in place.

Choosing between these treatments depends on the condition of your teeth, gum health, bite alignment, and overall oral health. Our team at Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics will explain your options and help you understand which approach may be appropriate for your situation.

Crown and Bridge Options We Offer

At Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics, we offer dental crown and bridge options to help address damaged, weakened, or missing teeth. The right restoration depends on your oral health, the location of the affected tooth, your bite, and your treatment goals. Our team will evaluate your needs and explain suitable options to help restore your smile’s function and appearance.

1. Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns offer a natural-looking appearance and can be designed to blend with surrounding teeth. They may be suitable for patients who want to restore a damaged tooth while maintaining the appearance of their smile.

2. Ceramic Crowns

Ceramic crowns provide a tooth-colored restoration that can complement your natural teeth. They are often considered for visible areas where appearance is an important factor.

3. Metal Crowns

Metal crowns are known for their strength and resistance to wear. Depending on the tooth’s location and functional needs, they may be an appropriate option for restoring teeth that experience substantial chewing pressure.

4. Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal (PFM) Crowns

Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns combine a metal base with a porcelain outer layer. This design offers structural support alongside a tooth-colored exterior, making it an option for certain restorative needs.

5. Traditional Bridges

Traditional bridges replace missing teeth by placing artificial teeth between crowns attached to neighboring supporting teeth. They may be suitable when the surrounding teeth can adequately support the restoration.

6. Cantilever Bridges

Cantilever bridges are supported by a tooth or teeth on one side of the gap rather than both sides. Their suitability depends on the location of the missing tooth, bite forces, and the condition of the supporting teeth.

7. Maryland Bridges

Maryland bridges use a replacement tooth with a supporting framework bonded to the backs of adjacent teeth. They may be considered for certain missing teeth, particularly in areas where a conservative approach is appropriate.

8. Implant-Supported Bridges

Implant-supported bridges use dental implants treatment to support replacement teeth rather than relying entirely on natural teeth. They may be an option for patients missing multiple teeth, depending on bone health and overall treatment suitability.

If you are considering dental crowns and bridges in Chandler, AZ, our team can help you understand the available options and recommend an approach based on your individual dental needs.

When Might You Need a Dental Crown?

Your dentist may recommend a dental crown if you have:

  • A cracked, chipped, or fractured tooth that requires reinforcement.
  • Extensive decay that cannot be adequately restored with a regular filling.
  • A tooth that needs protection following root canal treatment.
  • Significant tooth wear that affects chewing or tooth structure.
  • A dental implant that requires a crown to complete the restoration.

The recommended treatment depends on the extent of the damage and the amount of healthy tooth structure remaining. Our team will assess your needs before recommending dental crown treatment in Chandler.

Benefits of Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges help restore the function and appearance of teeth affected by damage or tooth loss. Depending on your dental needs, these restorations can offer several benefits:

  • Restore Tooth Function: Crowns and bridges help improve chewing ability and support everyday oral function.
  • Protect Weakened Teeth: Dental crowns cover and reinforce teeth that have been damaged by decay, fractures, or significant wear.
  • Replace Missing Teeth: Dental bridges fill gaps left by missing teeth, helping restore a more complete smile.
  • Improve Smile Appearance: Custom-made restorations are designed to complement the shape, size, and color of surrounding teeth.
  • Support Tooth Alignment: Replacing missing teeth may help reduce unwanted shifting of neighboring teeth into open spaces.
  • Provide Stable Restorations: Depending on the treatment type, crowns and bridges can offer a fixed solution for restoring damaged or missing teeth.
  • Support Long-Term Oral Health: Properly fitted restorations, combined with good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, can help maintain comfortable dental function.

At Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics, we evaluate your oral health and discuss suitable restorative options to help you make informed decisions about dental crowns and bridges in Chandler, AZ.

What to Expect During Crown and Bridge Treatment

Understanding the treatment process can help you feel more prepared for your appointment. Although the exact steps vary, crown and bridge treatment generally involves the following stages.

1. Dental Examination and Consultation

Your dentist examines the affected teeth, gums, and bite to determine the extent of the problem. X-rays may be recommended when needed to assess the tooth roots and surrounding structures.

2. Tooth Preparation

For a crown, the affected tooth is shaped to accommodate the restoration. For a traditional bridge, the supporting teeth are prepared as required. The amount of preparation depends on the selected treatment.

3. Impressions and Restoration Design

Impressions or digital scans may be taken to help create a restoration that fits your teeth and bite. Your dentist will also consider the shape and shade needed for a natural-looking result.

4. Temporary Restoration and Final Placement

A temporary crown or bridge may be provided while the permanent restoration is being made. At a subsequent appointment, the dentist checks the fit, appearance, and bite before securing the final restoration.

Your dentist will explain the expected number of appointments and provide instructions for caring for your teeth during treatment.

Caring for Your Dental Crowns and Bridges

Good oral hygiene helps protect your restorations and the natural teeth and gums around them. Although crowns and bridges are designed for everyday use, they still require consistent care.

To maintain your dental crown or bridge:

  • Brush twice daily using fluoride toothpaste.
  • Clean between your teeth every day.
  • Use floss threaders or other recommended tools to clean underneath a dental bridge.
  • Attend routine dental examinations and professional cleanings.
  • Avoid chewing ice and other very hard objects that could damage a restoration.
  • Contact your dentist if a crown or bridge becomes loose, uncomfortable, or damaged.

Regular dental visits allow your dentist to check the condition of your restoration and identify concerns that may require attention.

From the moment that you walk into this office you know that you're in a place of professionalism and that you'll be in good hands. We were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist, an excellent Dental Hygienist and Dr. Aaron Johnson making up the dental team that saw both my husband and myself. All three of these people were so pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. Even though we obviously were there for dental reasons, it felt as if we're back visiting old friends that we hadn't seen for a long time! If you're looking for a dental practice, look no further, because Progressive Dentistry & Orthodontics is the place for you!

I had a great experience at Progressive Dentistry. I have neglected caring for my gums in the past so I had pretty severe periodontal disease. From the moment I walked in to when I left everything was clearly explained and laid out for me, pricing was discussed beforehand and I was aware of every step. The staff and doctor were very friendly and informative. They spent ALOT of time during my deep clean making sure every bit was out and even following up with xrays more than once to verify. I am so grateful for my healthy new mouth and I will be going back to Progressive for all future dental care.
